What Is A Facelift?

A facelift (rhytidectomy) is a surgical procedure that lifts and tightens tissue to correct the look of moderate to severe aging and create a more youthful appearance. It improves the facial contour:

  • It reduces jowls by removing excess skin.
  • It improves the sagging of cheeks.
  • It addresses the deep fold of skin from the side of the nose to the corner of the mouth.

A facelift focuses on the bottom two-thirds of the face but the surgery can also include the neck to tighten the skin and remove fat.

What To Expect During Facelift Surgery

Newport Beach Plastic Surgeon, Dr. Sadati, performs the facelift with local anesthesia and orally administers twilight sedation, a safer alternative to general anesthesia. In addition, the patient wakes up faster after surgery and experiences a shorter time in the recovery room.

The Natural Facelift Technique

The Triple-C Plication technique is Dr. Sadati's improvement on the standard facelift procedure. It gently lifts the deep muscles and tightens the face without creating a "tight" look (a side effect common with traditional facelifts). Newport Beach facelift specialist, Dr. Sadati achieves this by working with three layers gradually. He uses triple-layered facial tightening sutures. They have multiple fixation points ensuring the muscles will stay in place over time and give a long-lasting result that looks natural.

Many Patients In Their 60s Are Good Candidates

Facelifts are no longer reserved for those in their 70s. By this time, the building blocks of a patient's face have changed due to depleted collagen and aging. Their skin has lost elasticity and is less likely to spring back fully than that of a patient in their 60s. A younger face heals better, offers better skin quality to work with, and has longer-lasting results. Good candidates for a facelift are non-smokers who do not have medical conditions that affect their wound-healing ability.

Facelift Recovery

Patients should plan to have someone drive them home after the surgery. They'll need plenty of rest for the first two days but will soon be active again. Some bruising, as well as swelling, is to be expected after a facelift. Recovery time is between two to four weeks.

Facelift Before And After

Patients come to Dr. Sadati to address excess skin and fat on the jawline, drooping cheeks, and deep nasolabial folds. However, after surgery, many patients look a decade younger, and experience renewed confidence.

How Much Is A Facelift?

A facelift can cost between $8,000 and $12,000 or more, depending on the patient's anatomy and surgical needs. This price does not include anesthesia. A consultation is needed for a more exact price estimate.
