Overview

Aging is natural and getting older is fine, but that does not mean the residents of Orange County and its surrounding areas have to embrace all that comes with it. With advanced age, there tends to be a gradual loss of volume in the face and cheeks. As a board-certified plastic surgeon, Dr. Kevin Sadati understands how this can negatively impact your appearance and emotional confidence. For this season, Dr. Sadati is thrilled to provide the cosmetic treatment Voluma to restore facial symmetry. Voluma is an FDA-approved, hyaluronic acid filler, which is a naturally occurring sugar in the skin that adds fullness in the apples and hollows of the cheeks. It is an ideal treatment option for men and women who prefer a nonsurgical treatment to improve volume loss and smooth moderate to severe wrinkles. At the Gallery of Cosmetic Surgery, we take great pride in serving our patients with personal care. When you call our Orange County practice in southern California, we will set up a complimentary consultation to attentively address all your cosmetic concerns.

Why Choose Voluma?

Voluma is a specifically designed dermal filler used to restore volume to areas of the face. Containing high-density hyaluronic acid, Voluma is able to provide long-lasting results to not only fill in fine lines and wrinkles but add noticeable volume and plumpness to the face. The results of Voluma injections can last up to four times longer than other dermal fillers on the market, and the results Voluma provides tend to be more effective than other fillers. Like other products in the Juvéderm family, Voluma contains lidocaine to help make the procedure more comfortable. Additionally, our injector is able to use a micro cannula to administer Voluma, decreasing the potential for bruising.

Prior to a Voluma treatment, patients will be given a consultation to discuss their desired results. They may also provide any information about skin allergies or medical conditions that may be affected by Voluma. During the consultation, it will be determined if the patient is a good candidate for Voluma.

Instant Volume for the Face

Voluma can be used on several areas of the face. At our practice, we use Voluma to create more defined and volumized cheekbones, chin, and mid-cheek area. Dr. Sadati and his team of injectors are highly trained to understand the importance of creating a balanced appearance to the face by adding fullness to the cheeks and chin to create symmetry for natural and youthful results. Using artistic vision and precision, Dr. Sadati and his team are able to provide customized injection treatments for your specific features, creating personalized and natural results.

Administering Voluma

Your Voluma injections will be administered by highly trained and experienced Suzanne Rogers, our renowned master injector. Prior to the treatment, she may recommend that patients discontinue the use of certain products such as aspirin, allergy medication, fish oils, anti-inflammatory medications, and blood thinners. This is because they thin the blood, which may increase the chance of bruising after a Voluma treatment.

Using a thin syringe, Suzanne Rogers will inject Voluma into the apex, apple, and hollow of your cheek. Once it is injected, Suzanne will then use her hands to gently smooth Voluma into the skin to create the desired shape and contour you want. Typically there is minimal discomfort, but a topical anesthetic can be used to optimize your experience.

What to Expect

The results of Voluma will be visible right away and can last up to two years. Side effects are considered mild to moderate and can last between 2 – 4 weeks. The most common side effects are tenderness, swelling, firmness, bumps, bruising, redness, itching, or discoloration at the injection site. Ice packs and over-the-counter pain medication can be used to ease these symptoms.

Voluma FAQs

What is Hyaluronic Acid?

This is a naturally occurring substance that helps bind water to cells. Its cross-linking abilities help provide lifting capacity, restoring volume in the cheeks and mid-face. Since hyaluronic acid occurs naturally in the skin, allergy testing prior to treatment with this dermal filler in Orange County is not necessary.

Best Candidate?

Dr. Sadati will help you create a unique treatment plan during your consultation. With extensive experience in a wide array of different fillers and relaxers, Dr. Sadati may include a combination of different fillers and techniques to achieve the desired results. Although there are a variety of immediate-action volumizers on the market, Voluma is unique because it was specifically developed to add volume to the mid-cheek area, restore the cheekbones, and contour the chin.

Any Downtime?

There is no downtime after a Voluma treatment. Patients can return to their normal activities, but it is suggested that patients avoid strenuous activities for the first 24 hours after any injectable filler treatments.  Another benefit of this product is its ability to provide long-lasting results: The results achieved with this high-density hyaluronic acid gel can last up to two years, which is nearly four times longer than the other hyaluronic acid dermal fillers available in Orange County.
