What is A Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty?
The nose is considered the anchor of the face. When it is aesthetically proportionate, the nose will balance the other facial features and create a pleasing look. However, if your nose is not aesthetically proportionate, it can cause your face to appear unbalanced and disproportionate.
Non-surgical rhinoplasty is a special medical procedure that uses injectable fillers to make the nose more proportionate with other features of the face. These injectable fillers come in different forms, however the most commonly used are hyaluronic acid fillers, like Restylane and Juvederm, or calcium hydroxyapatite fillers, like RADIESSE. These unique fillers are used to alter and shape the nose without the need for invasive surgery. This is accomplished by filling in depressed areas on the nose, lifting the angle of the tip of the nose or even smoothing the appearance of bumps on the nose bridge.
It is important to note that non-surgical rhinoplasty cannot reduce the size of the nose because it is an augmentation procedure. However, in some cases this procedure can make the nose seem smaller by straightening it. As a cosmetic procedure, fillers are typically used to correct the appearance of the nose, but, in some cases, can also correct functional problems with the nose like breathing difficulties.
Am I a Good Candidate for Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty?
Non-surgical rhinoplasty is a viable option for patients with a suitable aesthetic defect or a defect that has resulted from surgical rhinoplasty. Because this unique procedure is non-invasive, swelling, bruising and recovery time is minimal. This type of procedure is typically used for patients who want to increase the height and definition of their nasal bridge or want to precisely define areas of the nose. Note that non-surgical rhinoplasty can be used by patients of all ethnicities, sex and by different age groups.
Can Any Complications Arise From This Procedure?
As with any aesthetic procedure, there is risk of complications including discomfort, infection, hematoma, anatomic asymmetry and even granulomas, or foreign body reaction. However, granulomas are extremely rare and are most often seen with impure silicone. Your doctor will discuss all risks before performing the procedure as well as thoroughly assess you to ensure you are a suitable candidate.
