Rhinoplasty, commonly referred to as a “nose job,” is a specialized cosmetic procedure which can adjust the size, shape and even position of your nose. Because the nose is such a prominent feature of the face, simple adjustments can help define your appearance and make it more pleasing to the eye.

If you are considering a rhinoplasty procedure, there are key things you should be aware of before selecting a top nose specialist. Find a doctor with extensive experience and expertise in the field of nasal surgery. Nasal surgery is complex and can incorporate a variety of corrections. That is why it is important to find the right facial plastic surgeon who can offer a variety of corrections as well as identify the right corrections for your nose. It is also important to remember that rhinoplasty affects two important aspects of your nose. While it is primarily used to correct structural problems, it can also improve your breathing. Great care must be taken to balance any changes made to the structure of your nose to ensure breathing is maintained and improved. Dr. Kevin Sadati specializes in nose surgery as one of Orange County’s top rhinoplasty surgeons. He has extensive experience performing cosmetic nasal surgery and revision rhinoplasty for over 10 years and can offer a wide range of procedure options to ensure a successful and satisfactory rhinoplasty.

Once you have chosen your surgeon, it is important to speak extensively with them about what you want and to have realistic expectations. The type of procedures you undergo will depend on the results you are looking for. Some of the most common Rhinoplasty procedures aim at:

Reducing nose size to balance face
Reducing nose width at the bridge or in the size and position of the nostrils
Reduce or remove visible humps or depressions on the bridge to improve the look of the profile of the nose
Change the shape of the nasal tip (Such as a bulbous tip or droopy tip)
Your surgeon will explain the process in detail so you know what is happening and what to expect.

What to Expect with Rhinoplasty Recovery

The average initial recovery phase for Rhinoplasty is eight days. However, recovery time will vary with each patient. Nearly half of Dr. Sadati’s patients have reported experiencing minor bruising around the eyes after surgery, sometimes lasting up to a week. While some surgeons use nose packing after rhinoplasty, Dr. Sadati does not. Rather, patients will be required to use a nasal splint. It is important to note that the nose will swell post-surgery, reducing your nasal breathing flow for several days. However, this nose swelling eventually disappears and is usually only noticeable to the patients themselves.

There are cases where patients experience a brief depression after cosmetic surgery. This is typically due to unrealistic post-surgery expectations such as instant nose job results. Once the swelling subsides and the patient resumes normal activity, this is usually resolved.
